Your uniqname (pronounced "unique name") is a personal identifier that is required for using computing services across the University of Michigan's campuses. You must have a uniqname in order to use the computers on campus, to check your email, or to access the library's online resources, just to name a few.
This Quicknote is intended for current faculty, staff, and students who would like to know more about what a uniqname is, and what it is used for.

Uniqnames are assigned to new students once they are admitted. As a student, you may use your uniqname to log in to the computers in the computer labs on campus; access your email online at https://email.umflint.edu; access the library's online resources; log in to BlackBoard, our Learning Management System; and log in to SIS, or the Student Information System.
Uniqnames are assigned to new faculty/staff members by Human Resources at the beginning of their employment with the University. Once your account and uniqname are created, a designated individual in your department will be notified with the relevant information within 2-3 business days. You may receive your account information from them. As a faculty/staff member you may use your uniqname to login to the computers on campus, access your email online at https://email.umflint.edu, access the library's online resources, and to view your personal and employment information on Wolverine Access at http://wolverineaccess.umich.edu/.
As a note, your uniqname is used for nearly all of the University of Michigan's resources. It is widely used and published; it is not fully encompassed with the information on this page.
