Changing your U-M Online Directory Personal Entry

Intended Audience

This Quicknote is intended for current faculty, staff, and students who would like to make changes to their personal information in Mcommunity.

Requirements

In order to make any changes to your Mcommunity information, you must know your Uniqname and current password. ITS suggests that you go into MCommunity and update your entry to ensure delivery of important emails and requests.

How To Change your Mcommunity Personal information:

  1. Open a web browser (Ann Arbor suggests using Google Chrome or Safari for the best results)
  2. Navigate to https://mcommunity.umich.edu/ using the address bar of the web browser and press Enter
  3. Click Log In in the upper right corner of the window
  4. Log in using your Uniqname and current password
    • If you are a newly admitted student, it may take a full semester to be added to the U-M Online Directory
    • If you are a newly hired faculty/staff member, it may take up to three months to be added to the U-M Online Directory
  5. Click My Profile in the upper right; You can now see the different types of information associated with your account
  6. In the upper right corner of each section, you can press Edit to change information in each box
  7. When finished making alterations press Save at the bottom right of the selected box
  8. When you have completed making changes, click the Log Out in the upper right corner; if you are not finished and would like to change more, click Cancel.
    • If you clicked Cancel, you will be redirected to your profile page; by clicking Log In again, you can continue to make changes to your profile

Common Mcommunity Changes:

You can modify your own Mcommunity information (e.g., update your address and phone number when you move or delete them if you do not want them to appear). By default, for all university affiliates, all email sent to your (uniqname@umich.edu) account is forwarded to your (uniqname@umflint.edu) account; when others send mail to that address it will route mail to your mailbox.

Troubleshooting

Voicemails or UMICH Emails Not Coming to Your UM-Flint Email

This problem can be caused because email forwarding is not set up between your (uniqname@umich.edu) account and your (uniqname@umflint.edu) account. To setup email forwarding please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to https://mcommunity.umich.edu/ using the address bar of the web browser and press Enter
  2. Click Log In in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Log in using your Uniqname and current password
  4. Click My Profile in the upper right
  5. Click the Settings Tab
  6. Check to ensure the email address listed is (uniqname@umflint.edu) with your uniqname in the beginning
  7. Click Save Changes
